A few thoughts on producing and recording.
As I see it, using my tools and skills to help YOU, the artist or client, bring your musical vision to fruition is my goal.
As far as recording is concerned, it may at times seem simple, but to me it’s a bit more than pressing the record button and wearing out a vocalist or musician by having he or she record an endless amount of takes.
The atmosphere and proper mood have to first be established in order for the performer to feel comfortable, inspired, and at ease while recording. An appropriate recording setup is therefore a must.
The right microphones, their placement, the appropriate preamplifier, adequate speakers, an acoustically treated room, the use of high quality AD/DA converters, the right headphones, the right software, all come in play when it comes to delivering a quality product. The rest comes down to the skills and artistic talents of the individual running the session.
We all perceive and experience music differently. Hopefully the musical sensibilities I bring to the table will please you. If they do, I hope we get a chance to work together.
As a producer having a clear mental picture of the type of sound being aimed for is extremely important, all the while remembering to leave plenty of room for some magic to join the party.
If you are interested in working with me on a project, please drop me a note.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
PS: By the way, even though I stand by what I said about great results coming from working with the producer who’s right for you and your project, I must admit that having a great set of tools does add to the quality of the creative experience in a very significant way. On that note, I do use some of the well known and widely used tools found in some of the industry’s top studios.
An 8 core Mac Pro, Pro Tools, Logic, Apogee’s Symphony system, Apogee converters and clock, Drawmer tube preamp and compressor, microphones by Newman, Audio Technica, AKG, Software plug-ins by Spectrasonics, Synthogy, IK Multimedia, Antares (Auto-tune), Universal Audio’s UAD 2 Quad Nevana system, their flagship Reverbs including their amazing Plate reverbs, their Mastering bundle, a great majority of their plug-ins focused on vintage analog hardware emulation.
Have a great one!
